Redial : A Tribute to the Refineable Human
with the book and the model no.III, 2024
The human mind experiences constant change in its condition. Our interest in the delicate mechanisms of conscious-ness endures from the ancient philosophy of Greeks and Buddhists to modern day psychology and brain neuroscience. Despite milenia of research, maintaining emotional stability remains a challenging goal.
Could design play a more active role in this space? My thesis translates established research and methods from these fields into a collection of speculative design objects that suggest a possible world of self-friendliness and betterment. This speculative collection of drawings and prototypes offers a vision, sometimes humorous, sometimes mysterious, that critiques the often self-harming nature of contemporary design.

Redial is a speculative design project about fictional objects presented through illustrations and manuals, made to help people find emotional stability by reflecting on their psychological state.
Through this project, I raise questions about the essence of life and how daily habits could bring psychological stability in modern society. Each item provides different methods for self-assessment and activities for stabilization. The aim of this project is to raise awareness of negative thought patterns and assist individuals in breaking free from them to initiate new cycles of positive thinking and behavior.
Based on this, I aimed to present three important stages for individuals to manage their emotions and reach mindfulness: Reflection, Change, and Balance.

I wanted to present that design can help individuals overcome internal struggles and achieve emotional stability in modern society. To convey this argument persuasively in the thesis exhibition, I prepared them in three different forms of experience: a booklet, framed illustrations, and a physical model.
The booklet contains descriptions of all 50 items along with illustrations. Each spread details how an activity can transform observable elements of human emotions and how observing them can help individuals regain their balance. The framed illustrations focus solely on images, excluding detailed explanations. Finally, the physical model is presented to demonstrate that these items hold practical potential. Their purpose is to provide viewers with activities to try out using these items, confirming their viability.

I hope that viewers will find these objects fun and interesting, and that they will see these age old concerns from a less serious perspective. I also hope that they might think "what could I create if this was about my emotions?" Even if not on a professional level, I hope they recognize that they can assess their emotional states without technical and cultural barriers to imagine their own solutions.
I aspire for my answers to these questions to be presented in a clean and aesthetically pleasing manner, offering an engaging experience that brings satisfaction through the form of the exhibition.
